The girlfriend is at a going-away dinner with her coworkers, so how am I spending this Saturday night? I’m listening to my Direct Hits vinyls that I got for Christmas from start to finish for the first time…..
Moment of appreciation for The Rising Tide, please and thank you. Now let that moment turn into an hour, and the hour into a week, and a week into a month and actually just make it a lifetime because damn, son, that song.
I’m on YouTube watching bass covers of songs by The Killers, and before this last video the Nevada tourism ad with The Killers performing “Don’t Fence Me In” came on! Probably the only time I haven’t either ignored or skipped a commercial on YouTube…
It didn’t even occur to me that today was the 5th birthday of Day & Age until I saw the other posts on Tumblr. Let’s reminisce. Day & Age was the first The Killers album that I bought. I came to know songs like Human and Joyride before I’d even heard of Mr. Brightside or When You Were Young. I remember the first time I heard The Killers. They were performing Spaceman on Jay Leno. They gave a bizarre first impression. Here was this clean-cut young fellow in a blazer with feather epaulettes, and with him were three guys who looked like hippies. And they were playing this song that upon first listen apparently was about being abducted by aliens. Little did I know at that moment that it was only a matter of time before that band would become my passion/obsession. My how we’ve grown.
